Wool care

Untreated wool is to be washed as seldom as possible in order to retain its natural lanolin. After wearing your woollen item, place it to “air-out”. When your woollen product becomes wet, dry over a mild heat source. The lanolin goes to work removing bacteria & odours, as the moisture evaporates away.

Wash your item when you feel it retains odours when dry or just seems less fresh. You may be able to go weeks between washings, even with daily wear. Items not worn directly against your skin or less often can go even longer between washings.

Wool is best washed by hand, in lukewarm water, with a lanolin-replenishing soap. Use just enough Lanolin Soap to keep the water sudsy. Stir your woollens gently in the water, then let them soak for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water, until water appears clean. If heavily soiled, you may want to first wash in shampoo or a mild detergent, then wash a second time with lanolin-replenishing soap. Gently squeeze water out of wool. Roll in a terry cloth or place in washer on spin only, to remove excess water. Give each item a quick, brisk shake to regain its shape, then lay or hang to dry on a dry heat source.

Placing natural wool in direct sunlight to dry may slightly discolor the natural wool.

You can wash natural wool in today´s modern washing machine on hand wash cycle 30 degree. Make sure that the machine also rinses in 30 degree.
If the machine rinses in cold water,  wool will shrink. You can centrifuge the wool and after taking it out of the machine, shake it and put it to dry on a mild heat source. Use our lanolin soap as it replenishes your wool product with the natural lanolin.
